Heat Wave Is an incredibly great book with a wonderful ending. Maureen Jennings is the author of this novel. This is a heart-wrenching tale of poverty, illness, and war.
This book is a page-turner and just doesn’t let go. When you think you know the characters and what they are doing or about to do, you get another surprise. You don’t see the end coming at all the way it turns out. No doubt it is a wonderful book with great character development.
The story shows the importance of truthful, open communication between people and how damaging it can be to keep things buried, secret and unaddressed. Charlotte Frayne, Gilmore, and anti-Semitic these are the prominent characters of this novel. It’s July 1936, and Charlotte Frayne is the junior associate in a two-person private investigation firm, owned by T. Gilmore.
An anti-Semitic hate letter is delivered to Gilmore, and a veteran of the First World War requests the firm’s assistance in uncovering what he believes is systematic embezzlement of the Paradise Café, which he owns and operates with three other men, all of whom were prisoners of war.
